Echo waterfall

For Guen's birthday.

Her character Echo letting the water run down his face, shortly before he disappeared.

I learned a lot in making this, and a lot of the mistak- err, learning process, is plain to see. White pastel pencils smudge if you so much as look at them sideways, the points leave broad lines, and they don't erase worth a darn. However, I did seem to learn how to use the brightness to bring out the shapes I wanted. It's like drawing with lightning - a single mark shatters the darkness. Regular pencil is very forgiving compared to this.

Somewhere in there, the white shapes turned into an expression. Then I stopped, lest I break it with further experimentation. Total time about two hours' drawing, interspersed with about six hours' hunting references and trying to visualize my next move.
